The subject of my last post was the outrageously fruity Fairy Platinum Washing-Up Liquid - the element of surprise adding to the enjoyment (expecting Fairy and getting melon shampoo). Edible fruitiness isn't so unexpected in shampoo however, such as that in Herbal Essences Dazzling Shine Shampoo, the successor to the original Herbal Essences shampoo for normal hair.
The update is certainly mouthwatering, although I can't detect any of the 'rose extracts' the packaging advertises (or the 'shimmery pearl' for that matter - whatever that is...). The indulgent fruitiness that made the original so popular comes this time in the form of pineapple - alongside apple and the juicy orange of the washing-up liquid.
While the bottle design and overall branding of the new version is certainly slick, unfortunately the fragrance in my opinion is cold and thin when compared with the original. While the new is certainly enjoyable (after all, the selling point of Herbal Essences has always been the fragrance), I don't feel it matches up to the intrigue of the old. Luckily you can still get hold of the original (so stock up while you can).
